Parvati Hill Pune – My Favorite Place in a Heartbeat

Parvati Hill Pune

Parvati is a hillock in the City of Pune, India. The hill stands at 2,100 feet high above the ground. On top of the hill, you can visit the Parvati Temple, one of the ideal relaxation points for the natives of Pune. The hillock offers a picturesque aerial view of the city and if you are an earlybird, do not miss observing morning picture of the day. I have been living in Pune since two years now. I still remember my first visit to Pune, it was a rainy day June 17. My interview was scheduled at IT company situated at Singhgad Road. Today I thought I should write about my first emotion with Pune City. The interview was done as planned but one thing happened as  I was on 4th floor and I was waiting for an interview call. I sat front of a big window facing to Parvati…

Ajmer – The Land of Gharib Nawaz

shrine of Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer Sharif

All my paradoxical appeal of Euphemisms were laid to rest and my quixotic appeal of religious awakening was laid to rest when I bowed down to the shrine of Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer Sharif. I felt elevated with a sense of bird leaving his cage created by the contours of his own mind and escaping beyond boundaries beyond human comprehension. I stood there stupefied at atmosphere which surrounded me. The crowd which surrounded me were filled with souls ready to redeem themselves and pastorate themselves at will and here I stood there without any thought or sense just looking at the tomb wondering at Majar and asking him for divine intervention. The proceedings of my life confounded me and made me ask for more and yet I believe the answer remains within myself which I have to discover by removing the cobwebs that I have laid down for myself. The…

A Road Trip Down the Memory Lane, My Visit to Shivsrushti aka Raigad Mahotsav

Intro – In the last week of the first month of the year I planned something exciting after a month long grilling work. And to my surprise, it was another road trip (which I crave for BTW!) in Raigad district a good 150 km. from the hustle bustle of Pune. On Jan 24th, 2016, I went to relive the majesty and greatness of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s era at “Raigad Mahotsav” (a first of its kind of festival arranged to relive and feel the great Maharashtrian culture), which was held from 21st to 24th January 2016. What was the Raigad Mahotsav all about? As it was the last day of the Mahotsav and people from all neighboring cities of Mumbai and Pune had thronged Raigad fort, to witness the “ShivShrusti” on the 20-acre land at the base of Raigad Fort, in the vicinity of Pachad village, to portray the golden era…

Rajgad –The Maratha Fort Best for Night Trek and Overnight Stay

rajgad trek splendid traveler

Importance of Rajgad fort “Treasure of Maharashtra”, and the longest serving capital during the reign of King Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the fort has a great history including lots of historic events. Shivaji’s son Rajaram was born on this very fort, and the same palace also witnessed the death of Shivaji’s queen Saibai. Also, after one of the greatest escapes that can be termed as a Sherlock Holmes mystery for the Mughals, King Shivaji after his escape from Agra returned to Rajgad that was a Maratha safe house during the period. A Trekkers Paradise At the moment, the fort still holds intact the remains of caves, palaces, and water reservoirs that was designed during the mid-1600s.The main entrance door to the fort is known as the Mahadarwaja, where according to historians, the Maratha army had buried the head of Afzal Khan after being stabbed by Shivaji Maharaj. When I visited the…
