Traveling through the City of Pearls – The Sights and Sounds of Hyderabad

hyderabad

Being born and raised in Australia, I had no idea that one day I would end up living in Hyderabad, the hometown of my parents, though not of my own. As it turned out, it was one of the best moves I made in the last several years of traveling to over five continents and dozens of countries; and to be returning to my roots, in a sense, was something of an adventure just waiting to happen. When I finally arrived in Hyderabad in October of 2016, much had changed. Hyderabad was now the joint capital of two separate states, both of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. When I finally started traveling within the city, I realized the cultural diversity within both states, the old and the new, as well as the rich history between both. On the one side were all the historical sites, such as Charminar, Salar Jung Museum,…

You Must Not Quit – And More Life Lessons I Learnt from Travel Movies

best-travel-movies

Sometimes when things don’t go my way, and life is really messed up, I have this urge to stuff a few clothes in my backpack and take off, on a solo hike on a lonely mountain or a long-lost road, where everyone’s a stranger. On one such day when I was seriously contemplating the idea of running away while sitting idle on the sofa and surfing my phone with a scowl, I accidentally landed on the section of inspirational movies on Netflix and one of my favorite movies caught my eye.’ Into the Wild’ and my face lit up with a smile. Follow Your Heart (Into the Wild) For a second I couldn’t believe my eyes, I scoped some ice-cream to lighten my already happy mood and settled down to watch the movie for the hundredth time. It’s a movie of a law school student who gives up his lavish…

What Do You Mean By Incredible India?

what-do-you-mean-by-incredible-india

Incredible means extraordinary, impossible or difficult to believe. The term Incredible India was coined by the Ministry of Tourism to promote tourism in India. But then what about India is incredible? Let’s find out. I remember feeling extremely proud when I used to say the pledge in school every morning. India is my country. I am proud of its rich and varied heritage. As I grew up, I tried to understand the deeply embedded meaning of these words. What is the rich culture and heritage of my country? Each tourist attraction has its history, its own story. Let’s explore my favorite five places to visit in India.  Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Anyone who comes to this city falls in love with it. Mumbai has its own charm, its own thrill and endless job opportunities with people ready to work. The famous Gateway of India, Marine Drive with a…

I stumbled upon them on Instagram and was mesmerized by the gorgeous pictures and their eclectic style. I headed to their travel blog and found myself smitten with the content. The pictures they click are so full of life and hedonistic, and yet the written content is what brings their posts to life. Natsamrat: असा नट होणे नाही

My first review and first blog, a step towards connecting with the unknown on the other side. I hope everyone loves it… Nana Patekar starrer Natsamrat, is nothing less than a creative spectacle that opens up your mystic side with which most of us deal with the outside world. The film is the official adaptation of iconic Marathi playwright Kusumagraj’s (V.V. Shirwadkar) “Natsamrat“, which was first staged in 1970 and performed by Dr. Shriram Lagoo. “To be or not to be, that is the question” Hamlet’s great soliloquy by Shakespeare or the courageous words by Julius Caesar to the Romans, while being backstabbed by his own Brutus reach its epitome, when an actor of Nana Patekar’s calibre delivers it with pure intensity and grief. The part and role on whom the movie is based (Ganpat Ramchandra Belwalkar) has been spectacularly performed by Nana no doubt, but other supporting cast in…
